THE GLORIES OF HEAVEN.

Human minds cannot fully picture the beauty that will delight the eye when the earth is restored, nor can they conceive in imagination the ineffable joys that await the redeemed; But God’s word says enough about the future life to make it appear as a prize worth sacrificing everything to obtain.

In the new earth every person will enjoy abounding health. “And the inhabitant shall not say, I am sick:…” – Isa 33:24. No hospitals will be needed; no ambulances; no medicines. “Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped. Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing:…” – Isa 35:5,6.

In the present world thousands upon thousand of people live in darkness, their sightless eyes unable to see the beauties of nature. They cannot thrill to the kaleidoscopic glories of a sunset, the delicate beauty of a rose, the loving face of a loved one.

But in the new earth all will see! With immortal eyes the redeemed will look upon the dazzling splendors of a world unmarred by sin. Ears that have never heard the thrilling sounds of an anthem will hear the magnificent music of angel choirs. Legs that have been crippled since birth or by disease will be straight and strong. Crutches, braces, wheelchairs, - none of these will be needed; none will exist!

But all this is only part of the story. Wrote the apostle John:

“And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.” – Re 21:4.

Think of it – no more death; not a grave nor a cemetery ever again! Neither accident, disease, nor old age will terminate life. The heartbreak of gazing into the eyes of a dying loved one and chocking out an agonized good-bye will never again be known. On and on and on into eternity the redeemed will live, exploring more deeply the meaning of love, savoring immortal joys, plumbing and depths of infinite knowledge – and never fearing death’s cruel intrusion. Here is security such as mortal man has never known – the kind of security everybody would like to have.
