Choosing what sport to do

OK, well you have made the first step you are hunting around the internet trying to find something about sports, I am assuming you are doing this because you want to become more active. Now you know where to begin look into your past and find something that you really liked, what memories put a smile on your face, then and when you think of it now you think it would be fun to do that again. So what does it consist of was it in the water, on a bike or climbing a tree? Did you like it because of the people you were with or was it the activity itself? What every the reason there are groups of people who do almost anything and the internet is a great way to find these groups that are close to you. If you prefer to be alone you can always do that as well. But you may require a teacher in the beginning and don't be worried about that again there are plenty of people out there who can train you in just about anything. So lets just imagine the least obvious activity that I have mentioned so far swinging from a tyre into the lake, what kind of sport can encompass that fun and be easy to access all year round? Well how about wave pools, diving boards or water slides, most communities have these near by and if you visit regularly they can be very good for your health. If you are the type of person who has not been active in life then don't think that you can just start something without a little planning or thought you will fail. So take some time think about what you want to do, then give it a trial run you may not find the right one for you the first time around but you will and there is one thing I can guarantee it will change your life, forever.

Getting active, doesn't have to be structured

Of course if you want to get fit a regular sporting activity is the best way to do it, but sometimes your life does not allow for this or the thought of planning regular exercise is overwhelming at first. It is important that you start somewhere and as you start to become more active you just have to do something once an awhile a few times a month this is a perfect way to start. I would not recommend doing this for ever but to begin with it is perfectly fine, if you couple that with some other small steps you will begin to feel much healthier you will have more energy and soon enough you will want to do more. Rome was not build in a day, so start the momentum be patient and it will get easier and the best thing is enjoy it mix and match and eventually you will find yourself wanting more. What are the small steps you can take on top of some sporting activities, you ask? Simple things like taking the stairs instead of the escalator or elevator (lift). Park far from the shopping centre instead of using the closest spot, walk instead of taking the car, shovel instead of using the snow blower. When ever you can cut out short cuts do it try and be more active in everything you do, of course you should have 20 minutes of activity a day but again take baby steps don't make it overwhelming and don't be afraid to do a little bit more activity every day it all counts.
