Just do it! Blah Blah...

You hear in the press all the time thanks to Nike "Just Do It!" but the truth is if you just go out and do an exercise that you don't enjoy because someone told you that is what you are supposed to do, there is very little hope you will ever stick with it. So my first topic will be finding what you like, what suits your personality, and how to find something that you will stick with. There are hundreds of different types of exercise out there from Golf to Kick boxing to scuba diving. All of them are good for you but it is pretty obvious that if you don't like what you are doing you will not be sticking with it for long. So where do you start? It wouldn't make any sense to start spending money on a sport only to find out that you hate it and the pain you have in the beginning which is inevitable just will not seem worth it. Just because your friends like it or because that guy or girl you like does it does not mean you will like it so my recommendation is to take some time sit down remember when you were a kid and think about the activities that you enjoyed most. For example did you enjoy the water? Did you enjoy tree climbing, cycling, walking etc... you get the idea. I hear people all the time tell me they hate exercise, I have to admit I don't believe them. I just think they have not thought about it and realized that there is a sport out there for just about everyone. It does not have to be high impact or scare the life out of you it can be as fun as going down to the local lake or river and just splashing around or how about swinging from that old tyre (tire in US and Canada) that is hanging from the tree, god that brings back good memories!!
