Mother of Civil Rights

On December 1, 1955, she was arrested for refusing to give her bus seat to a white man, a violation of the city’s racial segregation ordinances. Under the aegis of the Montgomery Improvement Association and the leadership of the young pastor of the Dexter Avenue Baptist Church, Martin Luther King, Jr., a boycott of the municipal bus company was begun on December 5. (African Americans constituted some 70 percent of the ridership.) On November 13, 1956, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld a lower court’s decision declaring Montgomery’s segregated seating unconstitutional, and the court order was served on December 20; the boycott ended the following day. For her role in igniting the successful campaign, which brought King to national prominence, Parks became known as the “mother of the civil rights movement.”

Act «mother human rights movement " was seen hoisted on board, influenced the destiny of the country and was an example for millions. Her achievements were evaluated awards and honors, and the name will never be forgotten. However, we can put aside some details that make this somewhat more realistic plot poster. First, Rosa Parks was not the first resident of Montgomery, refused to submit to humiliating demands to give up her seat to a white. Secondly, by this time the black population of the town had a strong human rights organization and quite "ripe" for civilized mass protests. Third, no organized information campaign about the act would have learned dozens of Roses, but not thousands of people that had no effect would such a powerful influence on the masses. And she rose, as an activist movement for the rights of blacks ( secretary of the local branch of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People , or NAACP), knew what to do, and most importantly - what not to do during detention : not to resist , but not to obey without join the fray , do not frown and not pay the fine on the spot ... However, all these details did not detract from the courage of her personal choice, because austerity and strict observance of the rules of segregation regularly backed up shares and Ku Klux Klan marches almost always go unpunished.
