The participants of “Kalevala Fest 2013”

The band “Alice Claire Ranieri Quartet, Philology” (Italy – England).

With her first Cd released in 2007, the 27 year old Anglo-Italian singer Alice Claire Ranieri stunned her listeners and was among the final six vocalists for the Italian Jazz Awards 2009.

Here she is, three years later, with a new work which finds her more mature, incisive and aware.

Supported by her modern-mainstream trio, Alice Claire performs a surprising choice of instrumental masterpieces, some beautiful vocal standards and three original tunes, written by the pianist and musical director of the quartet, Andrea Frascaroli, and introducing an exceptional lyricist: the Andalusian poet Federico Garcia Lorca.

Andrea Frascaroli guides a tried and tested rhythm section, made up by the skilful bass player Stefano Cesare and drummer Gianni Di Renzo, through a variety of musical arrangements full of feeling, creativity and enthusiasm. Such as ‘Black Nile’, where Alice Claire sings an animated scat in unison with the piano, ‘The Good Life’ enriched with a tasty guitar solo by Piero Masciarelli, and the delicate soul-flavored ‘Blue Eyes’, a superb composition by Lewis Taylor.

This new work by the Alice Claire Ranieri quartet, “Every Song”, stands out for its close-knit interplay and the Alice Claire’s desire to find a personal way to render and evolve the vocal jazz tradition.

“The best surprise of vocal jazz in Italy”.

Alex Dutilh – Radio France (Paris).

“ The second fabulous record of this marvellous singer”.

Silvio Horacio Zudiker – Radio Fm La Boca (Buenos Aires).

“Impressive elegance and attention to details. Evening dress required.”
