Autumn Phillips

Autumn is the wife of Peter Phillips who is the eldest grandson of Queen Elizabeth II.

She was born in Montreal, Canada, and grew up in an English speaking suburb of Montreal attending a Catholic primary school and St Thomas High School in Pointe-Claire. Her parents divorced in 1986. She graduated from McGill University in 2002 with a degree in East Asian studies. During her time at college worked in a bar and as a model. On leaving college started work as a management consultant.

Autumn met Peter Phillips at the Montreal Canadian Grand Prix in 2003 while he was working as sponsorship manager for the Williams Formula 1 motor racing team. Soon afterwards they started dating, but for the first 6 weeks she had no idea that he was a member of the Royal Family until she saw him on a TV programme about Prince William. She moved to England, and they shared a flat in London and a cottage on the Gatscombe estate in Gloucester owned by Princess Anne. Autumn worked for an American computer company and as a personal assistant to Sir Michael Parkinson.

She attended the Queen’s 80th birthday celebration in 2006, and has renounced her Catholic faith so Peter retains his position in the line of succession to the British throne. They were married at St Georges Chapel, Windsor, on 17 May 2008 with 300 guests, including the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh. From 2008 to 2010 they lived in Hong Kong where Peter worked for the Royal Bank of Scotland. Their daughter Savannah was born in Gloucestershire Royal Hospital on 29 December 2010, and is the first great-grandchild of Queen Elizabeth II. Savannah was baptised on Saturday, 23 April 2011, at Holy Cross Church in Avening, Gloucestershire, near the Princess Royal's home Gatcombe Park. On 29 March 2012 Autumn gave birth to their second daughter Isla Elizabeth Phillips.

Zara Phillips

Zara Phillips is the daughter of Princess Anne and her first husband Mark Phillips. She was born on 15 May 1981 and is the eldest granddaughter of Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip. She does not hold a royal title and is not referred to as Her Royal Highness. She was educated at Beaudersert Preparatory, Port Regis, and at like other members of the Royal Family at Gordonstoun school in Scotland before attending Exeter University where she qualified as an equine physiotherapist.

Like both her parents Zara is an accomplished horse rider and eventing champion. She won individual and team events in the 2005 European Eventing Championship, individual gold in the 2006 World Equestrian Games, and team gold in the 2007 European Eventing Championship. She was voted 2006 BBC Sports Personality of the Year, and awarded Member of the British Empire (MBE) for her services to equestrian sports. She carries out duties on behalf of the Royal Family and attends various events for equestrian and children’s charities including Inspire, Cauldwell Charitable Trust and the Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

Mike Tindall

Mike Tindall is a rugby player and husband of the Queen’s granddaughter Zara Phillips. He was born in Otley near Leeds in Yorkshire and educated at the Queen Elizabeth Grammar school in Wakefield. He worked in a fish and chip van to earn money while he was studying. He began playing rugby at the age of 7, and rugby runs in his family as his father Phil played for Otley Rugby Club and his four uncles played rugby.



At 18 he played for England schools and went on a seven week tour of Australia, and decided to defer a place at Durham University when he was offered a place in Bath’s rugby squad. Two years later in 2000 he made his debut playing for England, and as outside centre in 2003 was a member of the World Cup winning squad in Australia. He is friends with Zara’s brother Peter, and Prince William and Prince Harry who are keen rugby supporters. It is reported that he was introduced to Zara by Prince Harry while they were in Sydney.

In 2005 he joined Gloucester Rugby club and is currently a player-coach at the Gloucester. In 2007 he received an MBE from the Queen for his sporting achievements. Playing against Wales at Twickenham in 2008 he was seriously injured and spent 5 days in intensive care with a punctured lung and torn liver. He was back playing the following season. His nose has been broken several times and his sometimes nickname is “The Fridge” due to his sizeable 6ft 2inch bulk. He has two convictions for drink driving.

He and Zara, who is a keen equestrian sportswoman, live in Gloucestershire, and their engagement was announced on 21 December 2010. They were married on 30 July 2011 at Canongate Kirk in Edinburgh, Scotland, three months after the wedding of her cousin Prince William. The church is on the Royal Mile and the reception was in nearby Holyroodhouse which is The Queen’s official residence in Scotland. Their first child Mia Grace Tindall was born on 17th January 2014 at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital. Mia is Queen Elizabeth’s 4th great grandchild, and is 16th in Line to the throne. She does not hold a royal title and will be known as Miss Tindall.

Timothy Laurence

Timothy Laurence is the second husband of Princess Anne, The Princess Royal. He was born 1 March 1955 and educated at Sevenoaks School, Kent, and the University of Durham on a naval scholarship where he received a degree in Geography.

He attended the Royal Naval College at Dartmouth and served as a navigating officer on the Royal Yacht Britannia. He was promoted to Lieutenant Commander in March 1985 and from April 1986 to 1989 he was Equerry to The Queen. In 1995 he was Captain of the frigate HMS Cumberland, and in 1996 Captain of a squadron of five frigates including patrols in the South Atlantic. In 1999 he was Commodore at the Joint Services Staff College, and since then held posts in the Ministry of Defence, London. In April 2007 he was promoted to Vice-Admiral.

He met Princess Anne while he was Equerry to The Queen, and following her divorce from Mark Phillips, they were married on 12 December 1992 at Crathie Kirk a Church of Scotland church near the Balmoral Estate.
