De Joven a Joven_PROJECT IN A FEW LINES-1

De Joven a Joven is a project about young people and participation. It will take place from January to June 2015 in the city of Huesca, including possibly other places for some specific activities: several places through the region of Aragon and the French towns of Tarbes and Pau.

This project aims to encourage the participation of young people and get closer to the concerns, demands and needs of the young population of Huesca, in order to give an appropriate and consistent response. Our organization, Centro de Cultura Popular, runs the Youth Department of our Municipality. All the activities are meant to be a link between young people of Huesca and Centro de Cultura Popular:

- Through the coordination of the “Puntos Activos” (youngsters volunteering as correspondents between their studies centers and/or associations and the Youth Information Office) and the yearly course planning: training, aims, etc. (for and with them). Puntos activos are part of the network “JÓVENES DINAMIZADORES RURALES” (RURAL YOUNG DRIVERS) within which they are collaborating with youngsters from different parts of Aragon.

- Through the animation of the participation of youngsters of our town as a whole, both in activities organized by our and / or different organizations as well as in implementing their own initiatives: concerts, associations, meetings, conferences, festivals, etc.

- Collaborating in our Street Education program, supporting our educators in specific activities and also in our summer camps.

- Collaborating in some cultural events organized by the culture area of our municipality: festivals, fairs, exhibitions, etc.

- Collaborating with the children play center, with supporting them with their different activities and festivals.

- One of the tasks is also distribution of information and promotion of activities prepared for youngsters trough our blog and social networks.

- And finally approaching the youngsters from the students community through, on the one hand, the facilitation of a weekly space at university: "COMER EN INGLÉS” (“HAVING LUNCH IN ENGLISH"), and secondly the preparation of lectures / workshops to bring closer the EVS action to the students in their last year and promote the YiA program (from now on Erasmus+).

Other daily activities consist on taking care of the EVS queries in the OMIJ (municipal youth information office), managing an information board for young people and collaborating in the development of our youth information bulletins: Youth Agenda (weekly) and Summer Youth Guide (yearly).

We have hosted volunteers from: Italy, Turkey, Lithuania, France, Bosnia I Herzegovina, Austria and Slovakia. If you want to contact our former volunteers, ask us for their contact details. Here is the link of the blog from our current volunteers: http://dosapellidosextranos.wordpress.com/

HUESCA

The project will take place in the city of Huesca.

Huesca is the capital of the Huesca province of the Aragon region in the north east of Spain. It has a population of 52,418 inhabitants (2013) and is located in the North of Aragon very near to the Pyrenees. Huesca has a typical Mediterranean climate for the mountain area - the winters are cold and the summers not unpleasantly hot. The city is surrounded by mountains, hills, rivers, lakes, castles which create a fascinating landscape.

It has a high quality of life and also offers a wide range of cultural, artistic and historical activities. For example the Cinema Festival, the International Fair of Theatre and Dance, the Periferias festival (music, dance, theatre and modern art), San Lorenzo (which is the patron of Huesca)…
The city is very well connected with Zaragoza, Barcelona, Madrid and also the north by bus or train. The nearest beach is 2 hours away by bus. Huescas city center offers many different pups, shops and leisure facilities (cinemas, parks, libraries, sport centers, etc.)

Very close to the city there is the perfect opportunity to hike in the Pyrenees, to take a bath in the cold rivers or to go to ski in winter in the different resorts. The small city is full of art which you can see nearly on every corner – paintings on the streets and walls. Everybody get influenced by this atmosphere.
